CalendarSchool Scoop Week of May 18

At 3:15 on Monday, May 19, there will be a Youth Initiative meeting in Room 322. Monday evening, FSA will hold its year-end board meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the library.

On Tuesday, May 20, students from homeroom 324, Mr. Neville’s class, will walk over for lunch at Santiago’s with their Spanish teacher Mrs. Powers, placing orders and conversing only in Spanish.

Wednesday morning, May 21, a speaker from Cantigny will meet with the 6th graders in Joyce Hall to discuss events of World War II. Also on Wednesday, Mr. Bauer’s homeroom class 321 will have their opportunity to order and converse only in espaniol at Santiago’s, with their Spanish teacher Mrs. Powers.

Thursday, May 22, be sure to pick up your Market Day orders in Joyce Hall between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m. The uniform exchange will be held at the same time. The most popular Gift Cards are also available at that time. Thursday evening, the spring band concert will be held in the gym at 7:00 p.m.

Friday, May 23, the second graders will enjoy a spring field trip to Brookfield Zoo, where they will participate in “critter covers,” a program on how an animal’s fur or shell protects it and helps it adapt to its environment. Friday will also be your final opportunity until next school year to order Gift Cards through the Gift Card Gallery. Plan ahead for graduation gifts, Father’s Day, birthdays and summer grocery needs!

Remember to visit the LaGrange Public Library this month to view selected artwork of SFX students, on display throughout the month of May.

Plan Ahead: No school Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day. Thank you to all who have risked their lives for our freedom!

CalendarSchool Scoop Week of May 25

If you have not done so yet, or for a well deserved second look, be sure to visit the LaGrange Public Library to view selected artwork of SFX students, on display through the end of this week.

There will be no school Monday, May 26, in observance of Memorial Day. Thank you to those who have risked their lives for our freedom!

Tuesday, May 27, 8th graders begin their official graduation activities, honoring the graduates and their parents at the celebration dinner at the beautifully transformed Joyce Hall. To enable the parents to prepare Joyce Hall for this big night, lunch will be eaten in the classrooms today.

Wednesday, May 28, the third graders officially open “Class Picnic” season. (Pray for good weather, for fun in the sun! In case of inclement weather, the students will stay at or return to school to enjoy their picnic treats and to play games.)

Wednesday and Thursday, May 28 and 29, the 5th and 6th grade girls’ volleyball evaluations will take place from 3:15 – 5 pm in the gym.

The Gift Cards ordered last Friday, May 23, will be distributed on Thursday, May 29. Graduation activities continue on Thursday, with the Awards Assembly in the gym on Thursday morning. On Thursday evening, the 8th graders will hold their graduation “Beach Party” themed dance in Joyce Hall.

After their fun evening Thursday, the 8th graders on Friday, May 30, will trek to Great America for their annual outing. Another good day to pray for good weather !

Looking Ahead: One more week of school! Dismissal for the summer will be at 11:30 next Friday, June 6.

CalendarSchool Scoop Week of June 1

This is our final School Scoop of this school year! Hasn’t the year flown?
Students will have their normal “specials”, such as art, music, computer class, Spanish and gym, through this week.

On Monday morning, June 2, the 6th graders will present a living museum in Joyce Hall, enacting the characters they researched and studied from WW I or WW II. Parents are invited. Monday evening, the graduation ceremony for the St. Francis Xavier Class of 2008 will take place in the church at 7:00 p.m. Congratulations to all our graduates! You will be missed!

Tuesday, June 3, the PreSchool-3 class will hold their class picnic as their final gathering before the summer. The 1st graders will also enjoy their class picnic this fine day. The 6th graders will culminate their studies of WW I and WW II with a visit to the Cantigny War Memorial. We’re praying for sunny skies for all!

Wednesday, June 4, is another day to pray for beautiful weather: the PreSchool-4 and Kindergarten students will meet for their final time this year at their class picnics. The 4th and 7th graders will also enjoy the day at their class picnics.

Thursday, June 5, the 2nd, 5th and 6th graders will all pray for sunshine and warmth as their class picnics will be held this day.

Please note: For grades 1-7, if the weather should be inclement on the scheduled day of their class picnics, the students will meet in (or return to) their classrooms, where they will enjoy their picnic treats and play games.

On Friday, June 6, students in grades 1 – 7 will receive their report cards and participate in an all school prayer service. They will be dismissed for summer break at 11:30 a.m.

PLAN AHEAD:
Summer Office Hours:
The Main Campus Office will be open from 8 -3 pm Monday, June 9, through Thursday, June 12.
The following week, Monday, June 16, through Thursday, June 19, the office will be open by appointment only.
The school building will be closed from June 20 through July for asbestos removal on the third floor.
The office will re-open in August.

Market Day orders for June will be available for pickup in Joyce Hall on Thursday, June 19, from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. There will not be a uniform exchange in June.

2008-09 School Year:
Required medical and dental forms are due in the office by August 1. Watch for your summer mailing which will be sent out before the office closes in June. Please mail your required fees and forms into the school office as soon as you’re able.
The next Uniform Exchange will take place in August in Joyce Hall, before school starts.
School will begin on Monday, August 26.
