Youth Initiative

What is St. Francis Xavier School Youth Initiative (YI)?

YI is part of a program funded by the Community Memorial Foundation.  St. Francis has joined with six other parochial schools in the Nazareth Cluster to work on fostering positive youth development  in our schools and communities. (http://www.cmfdn.org/initiatives.asp?type=5)

The goal of the program is to make our school a better place for our students.

Some examples of previous and current projects:

  • conduct focus groups to ask for student input on issues of concern to our students.
  • plan and implement school wide compliment board program.
  • participate in peer mediation to help out with playground disputes.

How can you get involved?

  • Teachers recommend 6th & 7th grade students in April to train as YI members.
