Advent/Lent Reflection Books

Do you like to write?
Would you like to try praying with the Scriptures?
Are you sometimes surprised by the way the Gospel connects with your life?

If these questions intrigue you, then consider this…

Each year, a variety of parishioners write one-page reflections on the daily scripture readings for the seasons of Advent and Lent. Collected into small volumes, these reflections are then published and shared with the entire parish community—enhancing our liturgical celebrations with personal contemplation and prayer. Many people have told us that they have found the books of reflection meaningful in the celebration of these seasons.

We hope that you will consider sharing your own prayerful reflection with our parish community in one of the upcoming publications. If you volunteer to write a reflection, you will receive the scripture readings for one of the days in these two seasons along with guidelines that will help you to pray with these readings and offer your reflections. Veteran writers and those who are new to this collaborative effort are welcome! The readings for both seasons are sent out in late August and are due back no later than September 30 to accommodate editing, production and publishing deadlines.

If you would like to write for either the Advent 2011 Book of Reflections or the Lent 2012 Book of Reflections, email smatthews@sfx-lg.org. Please indicate whether you are volunteering to write for the Advent or Lent Book and include your name, address and phone number in the email. Instructions and materials FOR BOTH SEASONS will be sent via USPS in late August and are due back no later than September 15, 2011 to allow time for editing, formatting, printing and processing deadlines.
