Psychological Counseling

St. Francis Xavier Parish hosts the Claret Center Parish Counselor Program.

Founded in 1980 in the Hyde Park area of Chicago, Claret Center has been committed to the service of women and men who value the integration of their spirituality with a healthy psychology.

All counseling services are confidential, respectful, understanding, and take place in a safe environment.  Counseling and psychotherapy services are available for individuals, couples, and families experiencing difficulty with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship conflicts, work stress / job loss problems, or feelings of being overwhelmed.

The Parish Counselor is trained in:

  • Depression/Anxiety
  • Eating Disorders
  • Addictions
  • Self Injury
  • Suicidal Thoughts
  • Sexual Abuse
  • Interpersonal Conflicts
  • Poor Self-Image
  • Stress Reduction and Management
  • Grief Counseling
  • Compulsive Behavior
  • Obsessive Thoughts
  • Unemployment Stresses
  • Family Issues/Child-rearing
  • Relationship Difficulties
  • Marriage Counseling

In order to assure complete confidentiality, we ask that you contact the Parish Counselor, Wini Nimrod, directly through the Claret Center and not through the parish.  A secretary will be available to receive your call Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Claret Center:

773-643-6259, ext. 31.

Fees:

Since this is a professional service, fees will be expected.  However, Claret Center has always been open to serving clients on a sliding scale.  This can be discussed with the therapist if necessary.  Whenever possible, insurance reimbursement will be encouraged and supported.
